Tired of being tired, tired of being sick…
I’m attempting to educate myself.
Since late summer of 2015, my number one Active Problem has been Abnormal thyroid blood test.
I’ve also had two sonograms after complaining of “neck fullness”.
My PCP is “watching” me.
Please note that before 2015 the PCP I had never ran any bloodwork, none.
A lot of my symptoms have been ongoing and increasing for a long time.
Something is wrong with me and I know it.
These are my test results:
824/15 T4 Free SerPl-mCnc 1.10
12/31/15 tTG IgA Ser EIA-aCnc 1.0
3/3/16 TSH SerPl-aCnc 9.90
3/3/16 T4 Free SerPl-mCnc 1.0
8/16/16 T4 Free SerPl-mCnc .90
8/16/16 TSH SerPl-aCnc 4.30
10/26/16 TSH SerPl-aCnc 3.80
10/26/16 T4 Free SerPl-mCnc .90
Allergies-environmental, meds, food senstivities
Menopause final- 3 years
Severe dry skin
Nail issues-finger and toe
Sexual dysfunction-vaginal dryness/no interest
IBS with diarrhea
Recurrent respiratory infections
Recurrent sinus infections
Fullness of throat-has gone from occasional to constant
I am a 55 year old woman. And I need help. I’m miserable.
My entire life is being impacted by all this…relationships with family, friends, etc. I’ve been off work for almost 3 weeks, if not more, since the end of December 2016 due to a recurrent sinus infection that is exacerbating my already uncontrolled asthma. I am on my third round of antibiotics and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been given prednisone since the year end. I am currently on a 6 day round of prednisone; day 3.
I took the screening test on this website and my score was 79, “it is extremely likely that you have a thyroid dysfunction causing your symptoms.”
I don’t know if this is important or not but at the age of 14/15 I had a surgical removal of a thyroglossal duct cyst. I cannot find research on the impact of this type of surgery on thryroid issues later in life.
I have a physical scheduled later this month with my PCP.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what kind of doctor to go to. How do I find one that will listen once I get there?
I found Hypothyroid Mom online and have been trying to educate myself through there, plus other scholarly information, just not fully understanding at this point.
What has been your experience?
How did you get the help you needed?
Is there hope for better health?

Is there hope? yes. but its slow coming if done correctly.
At least in my experience.
Your list of issues is not simple. Some of those are the result of other issues in the list.
Ive been on this journey now for a few years and have only been in treatment about a year.
I still have issues, but i finally have some proof that things are trending towards normal.
Hope you are at least in treatment now.
